Crack is the street name for a type of cocaine that has had the hydrochloride removed. When the substance is heated it makes a crackling sound and that is how it got its name. Crack is always smoked or freebased which involves heating the crack until it liquefies and inhaling the vapors through a pipe.
Crack is also known by other names such as rock, base, cavvy to name a few. Crack is thought to be the most addictive form of cocaine.
