Oxycodone is a strong painkiller associated to the opiate family. As a result, people who take Oxycodone can become physically addicted to it and are at an increased risk of experiencing withdrawal symptoms when they stop. The symptoms of oxycodone withdrawal may include “anxiety, panic attack, nausea, insomnia, muscle pain, muscle weakness, fevers, and other flu-like symptoms.  This drug is usually prescribed by doctors for moderate to severe pain and to patients who have continuous pain. Oxycodone is an extended-relief medication which means it releases slowly into the bloodstream and as a result, it provides relief for hours. Oxycondone is known by many names but some street names include OC, Kicker, OxyCotton, and Hillbilly Heroin.

One brand of oxycodone which has become very well known is OxyContin.  It’s used to relieve pain from injuries, arthritis, cancer, and other conditions. Celebrities who have been linked to this drug include Michael Jackson, Heath Ledger and Courtney Love.
